Clearfield’s Lansberry Wins 650th Career Game; Port Allegany Claim NAL Title; Coudy Scores 6 in 7th to Stun Cameron Co.

HYDE, Pa. – Clearfield’s head coach Sid Lansberry won his 650th career game in dramatic fashion Wednesday, as Hayvin Bumbarger’s two-out single to left scored Morgen Billotte from third to give the Bison a 6-5 walk-off win over Huntingdon.

Win No. 650 was eerily similar to win No. 1 for Lansberry, who has been coaching Clearfield since 1972. That first victory, on April 10, 1972, came when Frank Stolirchick singled home Mark Morgan with two outs in the seventh at the old Driving Park field at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.

On Wednesday, Clearfield blew a 4-1 lead going to the seventh when Huntingdon scored four times in the top of the inning to take a 5-4 lead.

But the Bison (back in 1972 they were the Bisons with an “S”) answered when Craig Mays drew a pinch-hit leadoff walk and moved to second when Billotte was hit by a pitch. Anthony Lopez moved the runners up 90 feet each with a sacrifice bunt, and Hunter Rumsky’s RBI groundout tied the game before Bumbarger won it.

That made a winner out of Lopez who pitched ⅓ of an inning in relief of Billottee. He gave up two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one.

Billotte went 6 ⅔ innings before reaching the 100-pitch limit. He allowed three earned runs on six hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out five.

Bumbarger had a pair of hits going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Cole Bloom was also 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bison.

Gavin Woodward had a pair of doubles and two RBIs for Huntingdon while going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Will Wallen was also 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Eric Myku was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Josh Zeleski took the loss going six innings allowing six runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out four and hitting a batter.
