LONG BEACH, Calif. – Heading into the PIAA Class 1A state championship game Saturday vs. Marian Catholic, the Clarion girls’ volleyball team is up to No. 7 in the Prepvolleyball.com Power 25 High School Rankings.

The Lady Cats were No. 18 last week and moved up to No. 7 this week following wins over a pair of teams who were ranked No. 2 in Class 1A in Pennsylvania at the time of the matches – West Shamokin Saturday and Bishop Canevin Tuesday.

Clarion is 23-0 on the season and is in the top-ranked team from Pennsylvania in the Power 25, which is a power rating based on how teams are currently playing.

Lovejoy (Texas) is No. 1 followed by Klein (Texas), Perry (Arizona), Mount Notre Dame (Ohio), Flower Mound (Texas), Lyman (Florida), and then Clarion.

Clarion, looking for its first state title since 2012 and the second in school history, will play Marian Catholic at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg for the Class 1A title.
