Chiesa, who last week became the first female wrestler to win a District 10 title in the boys’ championships, finished second at the Northwest Regional to become the first female wrestler to ever qualify for the PIAA boys’ championships, finishing second at 107.

LeBoeuf, meanwhile, is sending five wrestlers to Hershey and topped the team standings with 122.5, outdistancing second-place Clearfield with 106.5 points.

“Last year, I was points away from kids that took fourth and sixth at states, so why can’t I do it?” Chiesa said. “I’m right there, I’ll I need to do is break through.”

Chiesa won by major decision in the quarterfinals and by pin in the semis before she was pinned by Cranberry’s Dalton Wenner in the 114-pound final.

“It just feels like a dream,” Chiesa said. “The postseason came up so fast. This week flew by. I won the semifinal match and I just couldn’t believe it.”

Chiesa understands the magnitude of what she has accomplished, and is looking forward to continuing to be a pioneer for female wrestlers at Hershey. And she’ll be joined by brother Sebastian, who was fourth at 121 (the top four go to states).

The Chiesas have two older brothers as well, who were wrestling standouts.

“They didn’t make it (to states) their senior year, so I already beat them,” she said with a smile.

LeBoeuf, meanwhile, continued its domination by winning the team title and sending five wrestlers to Hershey.

JoJo Przybycien (133), Conner McChesney (172), and Dan Church (215) all won titles, with McChesney and Church avenging losses in the finals at D10s last week.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s a fun ride,” said Fort LeBoeuf coach Shane McChesney. “These kids and this coaching staff work so hard. It hasn’t been just in one year. These kids have been wrestling together since fourth, and fifth grade, traveling around the state. They’ve been a tight group for a long time.”

McChesney avenged a loss to Reynolds’ Jalen Wagner last week to top Wagner via 5-3 decision this time around.

“It was my fourth time wrestling him, I was just going out there to have fun,” McChesney said. “I was already guaranteed to go to Hershey so this match was just about letting loose and having fun.”

Przybycien, McChesney, and Church will be joined by teammates Jake Bennett (2nd at 121) and Ryan Welka (4th at 189).

“We try to have the same mindset, no matter what, in every match,” Shane McChesney said. “We don’t try and make a match bigger than it is. You step out there, both guys have to go hard for six minutes, and we just tell our boys to have fun because it’s competition. That’s what it’s about.”

The top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced to states. District 10 wrestlers claimed eight titles and District 9 wrestlers five.

Among the D9 champs was Brookville’s Jackson Zimmerman, who earned a 5-2 win over General McLane’s Magnus Lloyd in the finals.

“I just approach every single match the same way,” Zimmerman said. “Just kept working the best I could to win. I had a game plan for every single one of these matches, stuck through it, and came through.”

Twelve of the 13 finals matches were won by decision.

The Grove City brother duo of Hudson and Hunter Hohman claimed titles at 121 and 160, respectively, and were joined by teammate Cody Hamilton, the 145-pound champion.

North East claimed a pair of champions in Steffan Lynch at 152 and Cyrus Hurd at 127.

The other D9 champions were Brockway’s Weston Pisarchick at 114, as well as Clearfield’s Brady Collins at 139 and Port Allegany’s Carson Neely at 285.
