Cambridge Springs Girls Claim First D10 Title, Beating West Middlesex in Class 2A Final

Maddie Yanc scored 23 points as the Cambridge Springs girls’ captured their first District 10 title in program history, 51-36 over West Middlesex in the Class 2A championship game. 

The win snapped West Middlesex’s run of five-straight D10 crowns. 

                                      

The Blue Devils (18-3) led by one, 28-27 at the half, outscoring the Big Reds by four in the third quarter and then closing the game on a 16-6 run. 

Yanc knocked down six free throws in the fourth quarter and Jordyn Wheeler also came up big, scoring all six of her points in the fourth. 

West Middlesex (13-5) actually led, 15-8 after the first quarter thanks to the strong play of Emily Anthony, who scored six of her team-high 13 points in the frame. 

Hailee Rodgers kept Cambridge Springs close, knocking down a pair of early 3s. 

Yanc went to work in the second quarter, scoring 13 of her points in the frame as the Blue Devils rallied to take the 1-point halftime advantage. 

                          

Finley Rausher also knocked down a 3 in the surge for Cambridge Springs and finished with nine points. 

Cambridge Springs advances to play District 6 champion Penns Manor in the PIAA quarterfinals on Friday.
