HERSHEY, Pa. – Brookville remains alive for a top-eight finish at the PIAA Class 2A wrestling championships following a 1-1 day.

The Raiders dropped a heartbreaker to Benton, 29-25 in the quarterfinals, but bounced back with a 41-21 win over Lackawanna Trail in the second round consolations.

Brookville will meet Bishop McDevitt in the third-round consolations Saturday morning, with the winner guaranteed a top eight finish. The winner will face Chestnut Ridge.

In the quarterfinals, the Raiders held a 25-21 lead, but Benton’s Chase Burke got a 16-1 third-period tech fall at 120 to give them a 26-25 lead, and Benton’s Dylan Granahan edged Brookville’s Cole Householder, 5-4 at 126 to secure the win.

Brookville led in the match 9-0 on the strength of a 7-0 win from Owen Reinsel at 138, a 6-2 victory for Brayden Kunselman at 138, and a 7-3 decision for Brecken Cieleski at 145. Coyha Brown got a pin at 160 for the Raiders, while Jackson Zimmerman and Bryce Rafferty both won via decision and Jared Popson by major decision (13-2).
