Brookville Edges Port Allegany For D9 Class 2A Team Wrestling Title

HYDE, Pa. – Brookville captured its eighth straight District 9 Class 2A team wrestling title, edging Port Allegany 33-26. 

                        

Brookville state champ Nathan Taylor pinned Port’s Justin Young to give the Raiders a 27-26 lead that, coupled with a forfeit win at 106, secured it for the Raiders. 

The Gators had taken the lead on decision wins from Dalton Distrola at 189 and Derek Kallenborn at 215.

Brookville, which got a pair of forfeit wins, but the Gators rallied with wins from Scott Fuller, Isaiah Caden and Taro Tanaka. 

                              

Brookville responded with a pin from Jackson Zimmerman and a decision win from Dalton Distrola. 

With the win, Brookville advances to take on Chestnut Ridge on Monday. 

Port Allegany advanced to the finals with a 31-18 win over Johnsonburg in the semis. 

The Gators got a pin from Chase Weimer and a major decision courtesy of Braedon Johnson to get the ball rolling. 

Port also got wins from Isiah Caden and Ethan DeBockler. They earned two more wins by forfeit at 215 and 285.

HYDE, Pa. – Williamsport knocked off Clearfield for the D4-9 championship in Class 3A, receiving four forfeit victories and three more via pin. 

Mark McGonigal (189), Evan Davis (113) and Hayden Kovalick (215) all won by pin for the Bison, while Will Domico notched a victory by decision.
