DUBOIS, Pa. – Brockways Selena Buttery and Taylor Rhed are District 9 Class 2A doubles tennis champions.
The Rover duo earned a thrilling win over Punxsutawney’s Chloe Presloid and Emily McMahan in a three-set match that was decided by an 8-6 tiebreaker in the third and deciding set (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6)).
Buttery and Rhed dominated to get to the finals, winning 10-2 in the quarterfinals and 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals after getting a first-round bye.
Presloid and McMahan advanced via wins of 10-6 (quarterfinals) and 6-4, 6-3 (semifinals).
Buttery and Rhed advance to the PIAA championships on Nov. 5 and 6 at the Hershey Racquet Club.
