BROCKWAY, Pa. – Brockway and St Marys advanced to the District 9 Class 2A team tennis championships with semifinal wins on Wednesday.
Brockway was a 4-1 winner over Clearfield, while St. Marys topped Punxsutawney, 5-0.
For Brockway in singles action, Brockway’s Selena Buttery won 6-4, 6-3 over Lindsey Kerlin, while Taylor Rhed was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Peyton Reese.
Clearfield earned its lone win at No. 3 singles, with Lauryn Kitchen notching a 6-3, 6-0 win over Hannah Zuccolotto.
In doubles, Maci Dixon and Emma Miller beat Katelyn Olson and Sarah Catherman, 7-5, 6-3, while Leah Trunzo and Sarah Koehler notched a 6-4, 6-6 (7-5) win over Lillian Mercado and Sarah Cutler.
In singles action for St. Marys, Davan Lion beat Chloe Presloid (6-2, 6-1), Emma Gavazzi edged Emily McMahan (6-0, 7-6 (7-4)) and Rachel Fleming bested Brooke Skarbeck (6-1, 6-3).
In doubles action, the St. Marys team of Mya Klaiber and Caitlyn Blessel were 6-1, 6-3 winners over Hannah Perace and Chloe Aul, while Maddy Whitman and June Chen were 8-3 victors over Hailey Smith and Alexia Matts.
