Sheffield High Boys Hoops Under 2-Week Quarantine

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – The Sheffield High School boys basketball team is in quarantine for two weeks after someone associated with the program tested positive for COVID-19.

The team will be able to return to practice on Dec. 16, per Warren County School District Supervisor of District-Wide Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities Rick Gignac.

“If all goes well, they’ll be able to return to practice on the 16th,” Giganc said. “They’ll miss a couple of games but hopefully that’s it.”

Following a Dec. 16 return to practice, the Wolverines would play their season-opener Friday, Dec. 18 at Eisenhower. The annual Sheffield Sports Boosters Tip-Off Tournament, scheduled for Dec. 11-12, will not be played at that time.

Gignac praised the WCSD staff for how they have handled COVID throughout the school year, with the only other athletic issue being the Warren Area High School football team back in August.
