DUBOIS, Pa. – Behind the pitching and hitting of Tate Minich, the Redbank Valley Bulldogs won their first District 9 baseball title since 2010 with an 8-0 win over Karns City Monday afternoon at Showers Field in DuBois.
Minich went five innings allowing one hit and three walks. He did not give up a run and rolled two double plays that his defense turned behind him. Minich also broke the game open with a three-run home run in the fifth inning that put Redbank Valley ahead 6-0.
The Bulldogs scored three times in the first on a two-run single by Mason Clouse followed by a Ty Carrier RBI single. Both of those hits came with two outs.
Both teams advance to the PIAA playoffs.
