ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. – Jace Miner’s steal and layup with just under 10 seconds left and subsequent blocked shot just before the horn lifted Brookville to a stunning 62-60 win at WPIAL champion Ellwood City Saturday.
Both teams had turned the ball over in the final 17 seconds with a Raiders turnover giving Ellwood Cith the ball back in front of the Brookville bench with 13.2 seconds left.
But Miner stole the inbounds pass, went to the hoop and layed it in to give Brookville the lead.
Steve Antuono came back the other way driving the lane to try to tie the game but Miner blocked the shot to seal the win.
Miner led Brookville with a game-high 28 points.
Joseph Roth paced Ellwood City with 22 points.
