ERIE – Andrew Costello thought he was going to get first base after getting hit by a pitch, but the umpire ruled Costello hadn’t done enough to avoid the pitch and kept him at the plate.
Costello answered by blasting a 2-run home run to left center that started a 7-run rally and lifted Cathedral Prep to a 9-2 win over Meadville and the District 10 Class 4A baseball title.
Meadville pitcher AJ Feleppa had held CP to just one hit through five innings, but the Ramblers struck for seven runs on five hits to take a 9-2 lead.
Andrew Malec pitched a clean seventh to close out the win.
