April 4, 2022 D10 Baseball: Warren, Titusville, Union City Baseball Walk-Off Winners

WARREN, Pa. – Eric Dippold’s bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the seventh lifted Warren to a 3-2 win over Erie High.

Konner Hoffman reached via an error, advancing all the way to third on the throw, followed by back-to-back intentional walks to Ben Sowa and J.T. Blum to set up the game-winner.

Warren took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a double steal that saw Blum cross home plate and Dippold score on an error.

Kevin Fuentes got Erie on the board with an RBI single in the fifth, and the Royals tied the game in the top of the seventh on a double steal, with Chris Ramos crossing the plate.

Neither starting pitcher factored into the decision, but both were very effective. Warren’s Brady Berdine tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, striking out five.

   

                  

For Erie, Jose Quinnones went six innings, allowing just two unearned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out eight.

Owen Becker took the win, while Eli Nicklas suffered the loss.

TITUSVILLE 2, GIRARD 1

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Brock Covell’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth lifted Titusville to a 2-1 win over Girard.

Both starting pitchers didn’t factor into the decision but nevertheless were dominant. Titusville’s Garrett Knapp went 6 ⅔ innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits and two walks, striking out 10.

                          

For Girard, Anthony Ferretti went five hitless innings, striking out three and walking four.

Carson Stevens got Girard on the board with an RBI single in the fourth inning, with Titusville tying the game on an error with two outs in the seventh inning.

Kolin Baker got the win in relief for Titusville, with Girard’s Ethan Podgers taking the loss.

UNION CITY 8, IROQUOIS 7

               

UNION CITY, Pa – Matt Bennett’s walk-off two-run single capped a five-run seventh inning for Union City in a 8-7 win over Iroquois.

Aidan Shuman delivered a 2-run single in the rally, while Daithin Kent had an RBI double in the frame.

Shuman, Kent, and Bryce Drayer had two hits apiece for the Bears.

Shuman got the win in relief, allowing one run in 2 ⅓ innings, striking out three.

Iroquois led 7-3 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Ben Burkhardt was 2-for-5 with a solo home run for Iroquois.

Reilly Brown took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in ⅔ of an inning, striking out two and allowing four hits.

MERCER 5, CONNEAUT (OHIO) 4

MERCER, Pa. – Evan Jurlock’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Mercer to a 5-4 win over Conneaut (Ohio).

Julian Lawrence and Aydan Ryhal also drove in runs for Mercer.

            

Lawrence got the win, going 6 ⅔ innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits, walking two and striking out 11.

Austin Gravatt got the final out for the save.

YOUNGSVILLE 6 EISENHOWER 2

RUSSELL, Pa. – Nate Lucks tossed 6 ⅓ dominant innings to lift Youngsville to a 6-2 win over Eisenhower in the season-opener for both teams.

Lucks allowed one run on six hits, striking out five without issuing a walk.

Offensively, the Eagles struck for two runs in both the first and second innings. In the first inning, Wyatt Dalrymple notched an RBI single, with an error allowing another run to cross the plate.

In the second inning, James Johnson had an RBI single and an error allowed another run to cross the plate. The Eagles took advantage of seven Ike errors en route to the win.

Youngsville extended its lead to 5-0 on an Ethan Senz bases-loaded walk in the top of the fifth.

For Eisenhower, Cole Chapman took the loss, allowing four unearned runs in three innings, allowing three hits and striking out five without issuing a walk.

Brok English went 2-for-3 at the plate for Eisenhower, while Shawn Pascuzzi had an RBI single in the sixth inning.

SLIPPERY ROCK 11, OIL CITY 0, 6 innings

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock scored seven runs in the fourth inning and Dylan Gordon tossed six shutout innings in an 11-0, six-inning win over Oil City.

Gordon allowed just two hits, walked one and struck out four.

Brett Galcik belted a two-run homer for the Rockets, part of a 3-for-3 day at the plate with four RBI.

Shane Thompson was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI, while Ryan Montgomery was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Nick Kingerski 2-for-3 with an RBI.

SHARON 5, CONNEAUT (OHIO) 2

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Cole Voytik struck out 10 over 5 ⅔ innings of work to help lead Sharon to a 5-2 win over Conneaut.

Voytik allowed two runs (one earned), allowing eight hits and three walks.

Peyton Koss went 1-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate for Sharon, with Mikey Rodriques also driving in a run.

Dawson Thomas took the complete-game loss for Conneaut, allowing three earned runs on five hits and one walk, striking out eight.

CORRY 11, MCDOWELL 5

CORRY, Pa. – Corry scored five runs in the third inning and six more in the fifth in an 11-5 win over McDowell.

Nick Brundage had a big day at the plate for the Beavers, going 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBI, while Maxx Rimdzius was 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Caleb Marrs got the win, going five innings and allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out five and walking one. Marrs also had a double, RBI and two runs scored. Logan Joncas was also 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Jake Banks and Jake Hower drove in two runs each for McDowell.

Curtis King took the loss for McDowell, allowing five runs (four earned) in 2 ⅓ innings, striking out two and walking two.

NORTH EAST 6, FRANKLIN 0

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Aden Bulger tossed six shutout innings as North East earned a 6-0 win over Franklin.

Bugler struck out seven in his six innings of work.

Reid Courtwright belted a two-run home run in the win for the Grape Pickers.

MEADVILLE 12, GREENVILLE 6

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Meadville erupted for 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 12-6 win over Greenville.

Brady Walker, Rocco Tartaglione, and Jordan Young drove in two runs each for the Bulldogs, with Walker contributing two hits.

Walker also went a pair of scoreless innings on the mound to earn the win, striking out five and walking two without allowing a hit.

Nicholas Solderich had both of Greenville’s RBIs.

Francisco Dominguez went 4 ⅔ shutout innings for Greenville, striking out four. Soren Hedderick took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned).

HICKORY 15, GROVE CITY 7

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Hickory plated 11 runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-7 win over Grove City.

The top of the lineup did a ton of damage for the Hornets, as Luca Bertolasio was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, while DJ Donatelli was 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, Clay Wiesen 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and two runs and Joey Fazzone 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs.

Hickory led 13-2 after two innings.

Donatelli went four innings, allowing firve earned runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking four.

Landon Haggart was 3-for-4 for Grove City, while Dylan McEhlinney notched an RBI double.

Kamden Martin took the loss, allowing six runs in ⅓ of an inning.
