HARBOR CREEK 6, MCDOWELL 2
HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Cam Williamson was a day for the ages for Harbor Creek.
The junior belted three home runs, accounting for all six runs batted in in the Huskies’ 6-2 win over McDowell. He hit a 2-run shot in the first, a solo blast in the third, and a 2-run bomb in the sixth. He also had an RBI single in the fifth.
McDowell actually took an early 1-0 lead on a Chris Juchno solo blast in the top of the first.
Behind the plate, he caught Cody Smith’s strong outing. Smith went 5 ⅔ innings, allowing four hits and two runs, striking out nine and walking one. Aidan Kelly came in for the final 1 ⅓ innings, allowing one hit and recording all four outs via strikeout.
Curtis King took the loss for McDowell. He allowed three runs on two hits and four walks in four innings, striking out eight.
CATHEDRAL PREP 18, WARREN 3, 4 innings
WARREN, Pa. – Cathedral Prep took advantage of eight walks and eight hit-by-pitches on its way to an 18-3 win over Warren.
The Ramblers scored multiple runs in every inning, including five in the first and seven in the fourth.
Prep had five players with multiple RBIs. Jackson Mattocks had a 2-run single to get things going in the first inning, and he scored three runs.
Mattocks talked about the win afterward:
Cole Constable had three RBIs and two runs scored, while Jack Malec was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs, and two RBIs and Pat Sullivan was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.
Tai Hopkins got the win, allowing three runs (one earned) in three innings, allowing four hits, and striking out two.
Micah Passmore continued swinging a hot bat for the Dragons, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run. Owen Blum belted a 2-run double in the first inning for the Dragons.
Ethan Wilson took the loss.
NORTHWESTERN 3, SENECA 1
WATTSBURG, Pa. – Austin Kitcey had another brilliant start for Northwestern, tossing a complete game 2-hitter in a 3-1 over Seneca.
Kitcey’s lone run he gave up was unearned. He struck out six and walked two.
The Wildcats scored single runs in the first, third, and sixth innings. Kitcey had one of the two Wildcat RBIs, with Alex Cottrell had the other.
Conner KKaveny was the tough-luck loser for Seneca. He allowed just three hits in his complete-game effort, with all of the runs unearned. He struck out six and walked two.
GENERAL MCLANE 5, GIRARD 1
GIRARD, Pa. – General McLane struck for three runs in the first inning en route to a 5-1 win over Girard.
Alex Beach delivered a 2-run single in that first inning and finished with three RBIs. Cliff Morehouse drew a bases loaded walk for the first run.
In the fifth, Tyler Banks knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Alex Leehan got the win for the Lancers, tossing five shutout innings. He allowed just three hits and one walk, striking out five.
Tanner Tramontano had three hits for Girard. Austin Shady took the loss allowing three runs in his inning of work. Austin Barrett tossed 2 ⅔ shutout innings, striking out one.
CORRY 9, ERIE 2
ERIE, Pa. – Corry scored three runs in the first inning and five in the seventh on its way to a 9-2 win over Erie.
Logan Joncas, Caleb Marrs, Nate Lesher, Max Rimdzius and Jon Alber all drove in run for the Beavers. Lesher, Marrs and Albers all doubled, with Lesher driving in a pair of runs.
Marrs got the win for Corry, allowing two runs on two hits and five walks, striking out five.
SOFTBALL
UNION CITY 5, SAEGERTOWN 2
SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Union City scored three runs in the top of the seventh, breaking a 2-2 tie en route to a 5-2 win over Saegertown.
Kamryn Gates-Bowersox notched a go-ahead RBI single, which was followed by a 2-run home run off the bat of Emylee Zielinski.
Union City got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI double off the bat of Eliza Reynolds.
Saegertown took a two-run lead with a pair of runs in the third. Mikaila Obenrader and Kylie Stafford hit RBI singles.
UC tied the game in the fifth on a Gates-Bowersox RBI triple.
Abby Tingley got the win, allowing seven hits and striking out 13.
Obenrader took the loss, allowing 11 hits and striking out six.
GROVE CITY 7, SLIPPERY ROCK 0
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Grove City scored six runs in the fourth inning and Logan Jones tossed a complete game shutout in a 7-0 victory over Slippery Rock.
Jones struck out eight and allowed just three hits.
Jones, Maya Kirk, Courtney Saylor and Helena Wolbert all drove in runs in the big fourth inning.
Jones was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Kirk 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Grove City also took advantage of eight Slippery Rock errors.
Paige Gresgott took the loss, allowing seven unearned runs, and six hits, striking out 13.
WILMINGTON 15, FARRELL 0, 3 innings
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Wilmington scored 11 runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-0, 3-inning win over Farrell.
Bri Fisher went 1-for-2 with five RBIs for the Greyhounds, while Remington Koi homered and drove in two. Ella Krarup was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Maelee Whiting got the win, striking out eight and allowing just one hit and one walk.
FAIRVIEW 19, NORTHWESTERN 9
ALBION, Pa. – Fairview scored in every inning but one, including four in the first and six in the sixth en route to a 19-9 win over Northwestern.
Chloe McManus and Taylor Polach both homered, driving in two and three runs, respectively.
Jenna Hanas went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, while Ella Dworek was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, including a pair of doubles.
Dani Pizzoferrato had a triple and drove in two runs for the Wildcats. Jessie Gage went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Lauren Renick was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
NORTH EAST 6, HARBOR CREEK 2
NORTH EAST, Pa. – Delaney Prather went 3-for-4 with an RBI and also got the win in North East’s 6-2 triumph over Harbor Creek.
Prather went all seven innings, allowing just four hits and two unearned runs. She struck out nine and didn’t issue a walk.
The Grapepickers scored all six of their runs in the third inning.
IROQUOIS 24, MERCYHURST PREP 5
ERIE, Pa. – Iroquois scored 11 runs in the first inning and 12 in the fourth on its way to a 24-5, 5-inning win over Mercyhurst Prep.
Grace Abele went 2-for-4 with five RBIs and Mila Gehrlein was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and four runs scored.
Makenzie Lybrook, Fiona Yelkovich, Gracie Belfiorie, and Kate Robson all drove in runs in the big fourth inning.
Lybroke drove in three and Yelkovich two. The Braves also took advantage of 18 walks.
WARREN 11, DUBOIS 0, 5 INNINGS
DUBOIS, Pa. – Katie Madigan drove in three runs to lead visiting Warren to an 11-0, five-inning win over DuBois.
Madigan was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Also for the Lady Dragons, Alex Neireiter went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Ellee Irwin was 3-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored.
Kelsey Stuart got the win going four innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out six. Kylie Fehlman pitched a scoreless inning of relief striking out two.
Aleigha Gerr was 1-for-1 for DuBois, while Saige Weible was 1-for-2. Geer took the loss in the circle.
