SOFTBALL

OSWAYO VALLEY 15, YOUNGSVILLE 4, 5 innings

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Oswayo Valley scored nine runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-4, five-inning win at Youngsville.

Brooke George and McKenzie George led the way offensively, each driving in four runs, including a solo home run from Brooke George in the fifth.

The Green Wave had 15 hits, including seven for extra bases. In the nine-run first inning, McKenzie George had an RBI double, Laya Philips an RBI fielder’s choice, MaKenzie Mesler a two-run double, and Charlotte Austin-Keech a two-run single.

The top four hitters in the Green Wave lineup, Austin-Keech, McKenzie George, Brooke George, and Phillips combined to go 10-of-14 and scored nine runs.

In the circle, Mesler allowed four earned runs in her five innings, allowing six hits and four walks, striking out 11.

                          

Youngsville’s Sam Wilhelm crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the first inning, while a three-run Eagle second was keyed by a catcher’s interference with the basis loaded, followed by a walk to Willhelm, finishing up with an RBI fielder’s choice off the bat of Molly Helman.

Helman took the loss, allowing 12 runs in three innings of work, striking out five.

CURWENSVILLE 12, BROCKWAY 2, 5 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Natalie Wischuck hit a grand slam and drove in five runs to help Curwensville to a 12-2, five-inning win over visiting Brockway.

               

Wischuck was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Rylee Wiggins drove in a pair of runs as well for the Lady Tide going 1-for-1 with a triple, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs with Shyanne Rudy going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and an RBI, and MacKenzie Wall 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.

Danielle Wood was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Brockway with Stephanie Stage going 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.

Joslynne Freyer pitched five innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out nine to get the win.

Gabrielle Hertel took the loss going four innings allowing 12 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits, three walks, and a hit batter.

KEYSTONE 11, REDBANK VALLEY 5, 5 INNINGS

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Karley Callander and Leah Exley each hit home runs to lead visiting Keystone to an 11-5, five-inning win over Redbank Valley.

Exley’s home run came in the top of the first inning after Redbank Valley elected to intentionally walk Natalie Bowser with one out and a runner at first. It was the second time in two games Exley has homered after Bowser was intentionally walked.

Callander’s homer came in the third inning with two outs after Redbank Valley intentionally walked both Bowser and Exley after one out.

Callander went 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

            

Bowser saw her nine-game home run streak dating back to last season come to an end, but she was still 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. She has 16 career home runs while committing 15 career outs.

Exley was also 1-for-1 with three walks, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Exley got the win going five innings allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out five.

Keyauna Schimp was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Redbank Valley with Sam Evans going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

Mackenzie Foringer took the loss going five innings allowing 11 earned runs on eight hits, seven walks, and two hit batters while striking out five.

NORTH PENN-LIBERTY 12, COUDERSPORT 2, 6 INNINGS

LIBERTY, Pa. – North Penn-Liberty took advantage of 12 Coudersport errors to pick up a 12-2, six-inning home win over the Lady Falcons.

Mackenzi Tice had a pair of RBIs for the Mounties in the win.

Savannah Myers went 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI for Coudersport. She had the Lady Falcons’ lone hit.

Addie Smith got the win going five innings allowing two runs, one earned, on one hit and a walk while striking out 10. Tice pitched a scoreless, hitless inning of relief striking out two.

Emma Saulter took the loss going three innings allowing seven runs, three earned, on five hits and seven walks while striking out one. Myers pitched 2 ⅓ innings giving up five unearned runs on two hits and two walks.

OTTO-ELDRED 1, PORT ALLEGANY 1, 5 INNINGS

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Visiting Otto-Eldred beat Port Allegany, 11-1, in five innings.

No other information was reported

TWO GAMES SUSPENDED

A pair of games were suspended because of rain.

Clarion was leading Forest Area at West Forest, 5-0, in the third inning and had the bases loaded when the game was stopped.

Elk County Catholic held a 6-0 lead on visiting Brookville in the second inning when the game was halted.

BASEBALL

BRADFORD 5, PORT ALLEGANY 4

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Bradford manufactured a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 3-all tie on its way to a 5-4 win at Port Allegany.

A Nolan Roulo single coupled with a wild pitch, stolen base and sac fly by Ryan Ward scored one run, and a walk and two stolen bases, including one of home plate, by Cam Austin, put the Owls up 5-3.

Port Allegany got a run back on a solo home run from Henry Troupe in the bottom of the sixth but left the tying run at third base in the inning.

The Gators then got a leadoff walk from Blaine Moses to start the seventh, and Moses moved to second on a sac bunt but was stranded there.

Elijah Fitton was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Bradford with Austin going 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Ty Guilds was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Port Allegany with Troupe going 1-for-2 with the home runs, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Drew Evens was also 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, and a run scored.

Michael Gow got the win for Bradford going 3 ⅔ innings allowing one earned run on two hits and four walks while striking out two.

Austin started for the Owls and pitched three innings allowing three runs, all earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

Nolan Swanson, who came in for Gow for the final out in the sixth before Gow went back out to the mound for the seventh, retired the only batter he faced.

Guilds, one of three Port Allegany pitchers, took the loss going 2 ⅓ innings allowing two earned runs on a hit and three walks while striking out two.

Evens pitched 3 ⅔ innings allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits, and three walks while striking out five, and Sawyer Prince pitched an inning scoreless allowing a hit while striking out three.

COUDERSPORT 9, OSWAYO VALLEY 4

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Scoring all nine of its runs in its final three at-bats, visiting Coudersport beat Oswayo Valley, 9-4.

Owen Deutschlander paced the Falcons going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Wyatt Daisley was also 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Coudersport with Mason Roessner going 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Garrett Kellert scoring a pair of runs.

Cayden Black went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs for Oswayo Valley.

LT Myers got the win pitching six innings allowing three earned runs on three hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out six. Deutschlander pitched one inning allowing a run on a hit while striking out one.

Black took the loss pitching 6 ⅓ innings allowing nine runs, seven earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out seven.

MONITEAU 8, KARNS CITY 1

BUTLER, Pa. – Brock Matthews drove in three runs and teamed up with Branson Carson on a two-hitter, as visiting Moniteau beat Karns City, 8-1, at Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Matthews was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

He also came on in relief of Carson and pitched 1 ⅓ innings allowing an unearned run on two walks while striking out one.

Carson went 5 ⅔ shutout innings to get the win allowing two hits and three walks while striking out 11 before reaching his 100-pitch limit. He was also 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Also at the plate for the Warriors, Dawson Wallace went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs

Mallick Metcalfe and Braden Grossman were both 1-for-2 with a walk for Karns City.

Metcalfe took the loss pitching 4 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out one.

Tyler Hutchinson pitched 2 ⅔ innings allowing three earned runs on two hits, two walks, and two hit batters. He struck out two.

CLARION 23, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. – Clarion hit three home runs among its 19 hits on its way to a 23-0, three-inning win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Cam Lapinto, Chase Kriebel, and Daunte Girvan each went deep for the Bobcats, who scored 22 first-inning runs.

Lapinto was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored, Kriebel was 1-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored, and four RBIs, and Girvan was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and six RBIs.

Also driving in four runs for Clarion was Devon Lauer, who was 3-for-3 with three runs scored with Ryan Alston going 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Gary Matus 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Dawson Smail 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and three runs scored, and Bryce Brinkley 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Noah Harrison also walked twice, drove in two runs, and scored twice for Clarion.

Jimmy Kerr got the win for the Bobcats going three innings allowing one hit, one walk, and one hit batter while striking out seven.

Troy Forkin had the lone hit for Forest Area.

Colton Kuntz took the loss allowing 17 runs, 16 earned, on 11 hits, four walks, and a hit batter in ⅓ of an inning. Forkin pitched a ⅓ of an inning giving up five earned run on five hits and three walks. Keyon Custer pitched two innings allowing a run on three hits and a walk while striking out two, and Declan McLaughlin pitched a ⅓ of an inning scoreless walking one.

JUNIATA VALLEY 7, CURWENSVILLE 2

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Scoring six runs in its final three at-bats, including four in the seventh, visiting Juniata Valley rallied past Curwensville, 7-2.

Jacob Johnson paced the Hornets going 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, while Nick Morningstar was 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs, and Jacob Rodkey 2-for-4.

Ayden Sutika led Curwensville going 2-for-3 with an RBI with Jayson Rowles also 2-for-3. Spencer Hoover added a 1-for-2 afternoon with a run scored and an RBI.

Johnson got the win pitching 6 ⅔ innings allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Jordyn Couch got the final out for the Hornets allowing a hit.

Jake Mullins took the loss in relief of Shane Sunderlin. Mullins pitched 1 ⅔ innings giving up an earned run on a hit and a walk while striking out four.

Sunderlin pitched four innings giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out five.

Tyler Libby got one out for the Golden Tide allowing a hit and walking two, and Tyler Lee pitched two innings giving up an earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

ALLEGANY-LIMESTONE 10, OTTO-ELDRED 3

ALLEGANY, N.Y.- Answering a three-run Otto-Eldred first inning with a six-spot in the bottom of the inning, Allegany-Limestone picked up a 10-3 cross-state win over the Terrors.

Wade Daniels and Max Splain were both 2-for-4 with a run scored for Otto-Eldred with Calvin Minich going 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Braden Maholic 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Andrew Schenfield took the loss. He didn’t record an out and gave up five earned runs on two hits and three walks. Jared Obenrader pitched five innings allowing five earned runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out one, and Maholic pitched one inning allowing two hits and a walk.

PAIR OF GAMES SUSPENED

Two games were started but then suspended because of rain.

Clearfield led Huntingdon, 2-0, in the third inning at Clearfield. That game will most likely be continued prior to the regularly scheduled game at Huntingdon May 9.

Meanwhile, Brookville held a 1-0 lead at Elk County Catholic in the second inning.
