Q&A With Cam Wagner

D9and10Sports: How did you first get involved in sports and did you like it?
A: I began playing sports at the age of 4 in the youth soccer program at Redbank Valley. I then tried my hand at flag football at the age of 6 at the YMCA. I fell in love with sports and competition the moment I began and haven’t looked back since.

D9and10Sports: Who has been your biggest influence in life and why?
A: My greatest impact in life has come from my family, including my parents, brothers, Grandma and Grandpa. If I could only choose one, it would have to be my dad. My dad has coached me in many sports and mentored me to become a man of integrity. I also can’t let it go unnoticed the impact my coaches have had on my life. I have gained many valuable lessons from them stemming from youth sports through high school. I’ve had many role models throughout.

D9and10Sports: What is your favorite high school sports memory?
A: This is a hard question to answer because it’s a toss-up between a few; a state Medalist, 2-time D9 champion (football and track), and winning the first-ever state playoff game in Redbank Valley history. However, if I had to choose just one, it would have to be earning the state medal in track as a sophomore after losing my freshman year to Covid.

D9and10Sports: What is your favorite social media platform and why?
A: Snapchat….it’s a great way to communicate with friends and teammates.

D9and10Sports: What would someone who is meeting you for the first time be surprised to find out about you?
A: I tend to be a quiet person to most but I have been raised to be an honest and respectful person. I am genuinely a kind-hearted person and a friend to many.

D9and10Sports: If there was one period in history you could go back to, what would it be and why?
A: Definitely would go back to the 1920’s because it was a time of prosperity in American history.

D9and10Sports: What will you tell your kids someday about living through the COVID-19 pandemic?
A: Covid was a time of difficulty. People lost jobs, schools were shut down and we were taught remotely. Masks were worn in public. Unfortunately, we also lost our spring sports season which hurt many student-athletes. Fall and winter sports suffered with no fans …which was quite strange looking up at the bleachers to no family or classmates.

D9and10Sports: What is your ideal place to live? Country, City, Suburb and why?
A: Suburbs….it’s the best of both worlds…not far from larger populated areas, yet far enough away to enjoy the quiet.

D9and10Sports: Is there anything you wish we would have asked you? If so, what is the answer?
A: I wish you would have asked more about my education vs sports. I would love to go to college and play D1 or D2 sports but my primary goal is to simply attend college in the first place so I can someday provide for myself and my family in the future.
